Hi Nora, I took Monday off from work in anticipation of the fabulous blizzard (which started Friday after work and did not disappoint!) My knitting friend, Julie, and I spent the afternoon at The Sow's Ear, our favorite knitting shop/coffee shop. What a lovely way to be snowbound!
Anyway, Julie is making your Donyale socks out of Misti Alpaca, and they are coming along nicely, but she had a question (which I couldn't answer to my satisfaction) about this instruction: "Divide heel and instep sts so that the instep sts are demarcated by one P st."
My guess was that the column of purls serve to separate the patterned instep from the stockinette-stitch sole of the sock? Is that correct?
I love the eyelet stitch used in the socks. I tried a column of it on the finger of a glove, and I think I may do an entire glove with it.
